Hardin County Solid Waste & Recycling offers Recycling services for residents and businesses in Hardin County, Iowa.

Hardin County Solid Waste & Recycling is governed by the Hardin County Solid Waste Disposal Commission, consisting of one appointed member from each of the following communities: Ackley, Alden, Buckeye, Eldora, Hubbard, Iowa Falls, New Providence, Owasa, Radcliffe, Steamboat Rock, Union, and one member of the Hardin County Board of Supervisors, representing the rural community of Hardin County, Iowa.

HOURS OF OPERATION:

7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday)

We observe the traditional Holiday and are closed on the following days:

  • New Year’s Day (Jan. 1st)

  • Memorial Day

  • July 4th

  • Labor Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Christmas Eve (Dec. 24th) – closing at 11:30 a.m.

  • Christmas Day (Dec. 25th)

If your recycling pick up falls on one of these days, we will make every effort to get it picked up as soon as possible. Please check your local newspaper or City Hall for updated route.

The City of Eldora will begin to offer waste service starting July 1, 2025.

The City of Eldora is committed to improving services that benefit all residents. By moving to a city-wide garbage service, we aim to provide consistent, reliable, and cost-effective waste collection for every household. This initiative helps reduce wear and tear on our roads, lowers the overall environmental impact, and ensures all residents have access to quality waste management.
