Seasonal Pool Director
The City of Eldora is seeking a Seasonal Pool Director to join our team!
Job Summary:
The Seasonal Pool Director is responsible for the overall operation of the city pool. This includes managing staff, ensuring the safety of patrons, maintaining water quality, overseeing daily operations, and addressing any issues that arise. The Pool Director must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Duration: January – September (yearly)
Hourly Rate: Starts at $17 per hour, based on experience (city will pay for certifications)
Availability: Monday – Friday and must be available on weekends

Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit, interview, and hire staff
Conduct staff orientation and lead weekly staff meetings
Prepare work schedules, review, and submit timecards
Manage pool Facebook page
Test water chemistry and complete required state health forms
Backwash pool filters as needed
Notify the aquatics supervisor to order pool supplies
Order and maintain stock for the concession stand
Open and close the pool facility daily
Supervise lifeguards to ensure alertness, promptness, and consistent rule enforcement
Direct laborer duties to ensure smooth pool operations
Assist staff members with the daily management of the pool
Help manage daily cash records and deposits
Perform daily inspections of the facility, including AEDs, fanny packs, diving boards, rescue equipment, ladders, locker rooms, showers, deck area, grounds, and slides. Report any issues to the aquatic supervisor
Handle public concerns, problems, or suggestions professionally and courteously
Notify the appropriate authority when issues arise beyond your control
Perform other duties as assigned by the aquatic supervisor
Qualifications:
Current certifications in lifeguarding, Basic Swim Instructor (BSI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI) CPR, Certified Pool Operator (CPO), and First Aid (City will provide certification opportunities. Must have all certifications by May each year)
Basic understanding of pool water quality control and the mechanical functions of pool equipment
Experience as a lifeguard in a public swimming pool setting
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in pool operation (preferred)
Must be in good physical condition and possess strong verbal communication skills
Must demonstrate initiative, dependability, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to serve the public
